Major League Baseball makes its return

As May approaches, the MLB season has truly begun to heat up. With many teams passing the 25-game mark, the contenders are separating themselves from the rest of the pack.

The American League (AL) East currently looks like the strongest division, with every team maintaining a record of above .500, and three teams above .600. The Tampa Bay Rays were the first team to hit 20 wins, and the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays are not far behind. The Minnesota Twins lead the AL Central while the Houston Astros barely lead the AL West against the Texas Rangers and the LA Angels.

In the National League (NL), the Pittsburgh Pirates lead overall, though their NL Central compatriots the Milwaukee Brewers are within touching distance. The Atlanta Braves lead the AL East while the Arizona Diamondbacks lead the AL West.

After a chaotic introduction of new rules intended to increase the pace of play for shorter games and more enjoyable viewing experiences, the league seems to have settled and the general consensus around the rules are positive.
