Hart Swim competed in their Foothill League opener against Golden Valley March 10 at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center (SCAC). Winning in all divisions, it was an exciting and successful start to the season.

The team went against Saugus March 15 at SCAC. Hart varsity girls were victorious with a score of 92-84, while Saugus varsity boys beat Hart varsity boys 99-78.

Hart Swim faced off against Castaic March 22 at SCAC, ending the meet in a clean sweep against the Coyotes.

March 30, the team went against West Ranch in an intense face-off against the Wildcats. In an incredibly tight struggle for victory, Hart varsity girls beat West Ranch varsity girls by one point, 93-92. Much like the Saugus meet, the win was split between Hart’s varsity girls and West Ranch’s varsity boys.

“We have been doing a lot of drills that have been making us better and the meets are really fun. The energy on the team makes it feel like we’re one big family,” said sophomore varsity swimmer Isabella Owston.

Hart has two more dual meets against other high schools in the Foothill League until all the teams meet for league finals April 27. The swimmers will go against Canyon April 13, then Valencia the following week April 19. Both meets will take place at SCAC.

The varsity girls tied with Valencia as Foothill League champions for the 2022 season, and are hoping to secure the title as sole champions this year.

When asked if Hart could come home with the trophy this year, Owston responded with optimism and confidence.

“With more training and everything, I think we have a good chance at winning League… Horns down!” Owston said.
