Girls’ volleyball breaks their winning streak

Hart Varsity Girls Volleyball ended their five game winning streak with a 3-0 loss to the Valencia Vikings Tuesday September 13. 

Hart played against the Vikings at Valencia. In the first set, Valencia had a lead of 18-11, but Hart caught up to tie the score at 22-22.

After point 22, coach Sia Irilian–stand-in coach for Mary Irilian–called a timeout to prepare the girls to score one more point to get a lead. The team scored the point making the score 23-22, but Valencia responded with a scoring streak, winning the set. 

The student section cheered the girls on to win the next set. Hart lost the set 25-22. Getting ready for the next set, the student section continued to cheer  for Hart to win a set. 

The next set began and Hart scored the first point, but Valencia also scored. The Vikings scored another point after the ball hit the antenna. Valencia took the lead but Hart was right on their tail. 

Hart tied the score after a diving save by Alexis Holloway, Libero, (#99) with a pass to Maiah Jiz, outside hitter, (#6) who got a kill to tie the score 11-11. The set ended with a final score of 25-19, making the final score 3-0 for Hart.

“Valencia has always been a tough team to beat but I believe once we play them again we will get the victory we want.” said Coach CJ-also stand-in coach for Mary Irilian.
