Homecoming comes home

Hart’s Varsity Football team took on the Mira Costa Mustangs in Hart’s homecoming game at Cougar Stadium on September 9th. Mira Costa’s record going into the game was 1-1, while Hart’s record was 1-2. The game started off slow with neither team scoring on their opening drives.

However, Hart struck first with a field goal by #24, Samshj Oyewo. The Hart student section erupted in cheers following the field goal, with the Hart marching band playing Hart’s fight song despite the fact that the fight song is usually reserved for touchdowns. The Mira Costa Mustangs followed the field goal attempt with a touchdown, and then Hart followed up with a long drive that ended in a turnover on downs. Mira Costa extended their lead with two more scores building a three-score lead going into halftime.

The second half had more Mira Costa success with Hart only scoring one touchdown to bring the final score to 36-10. Timmy Larkins averaged 12 completions, 223 yards, 18.6 average, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.

Hart’s Homecoming game comes after their September 2 victory against the Fillmore Flashes 35-7. In the game, Timmy Larkins threw for 223 yards on 12 completions, with Larkins also throwing two touchdown passes and 0 interceptions.
