Hart cross country fights to continue to train during the pandemic

As the coronavirus pandemic spreads around the world, school programs have experienced major changes to how they run their programs. Hart High School’s cross country team is no exception to these changes.

The cross country program actually started up during the month of July this year. However, due to COVID-19, all of the team’s practices were done over zoom calls. Each zoom call features a warmup and a work out focused on improving members’ muscle strength. In addition to these zoom meetings, members of the cross country team are also expected to continue to exercise on their own time. All runners are required to complete their runs on their own. They then record those runs in a running journal that is posted on the team’s Google Classroom.

Wednesday, September 23 was the first time that the cross country team met in person since schools closed March 13. The team is planning to meet in person every Wednesday. However, that may change as new updates with the coronavirus occur.

We’ll update in person practice as protocols change,” said Coach Darren.
