Dear Nature, We Are Sorry

Dear Nature,

Thank you for all you do, even though most of the time we take you for granted, pollute your air, trash your oceans, dig into your surface and harm your animals.

You are beautiful. You give us oxygen, water, shade, light, warmth, protection, balance, gravity, food, sweets, and amazing sights to gaze on. But we are sorry for throwing our used chip bags out of the car, onto your landscapes, for emitting toxic gasses into your atmosphere and for drilling to your core for oil.

We daily enjoy watching the sunsets you paint for us, snorkeling in your crystal blue waters, and playing with your baby animals. Although, we apologize for flying airplanes in your air that add to your dying, dumping oil into your blue liquid and murdering your playful creations.

We love traveling and exploring your land, hiking your tallest mountains for a high, and skiing down the powder you drop from the sky.

Please disregard, though, our constant deforestation of your lush forests, the plastering of cookie cutter housing tracts and manufacturing industries that burn fossil fuels in order to produce energy.

Thank you for all you do, for giving us heat through your powerful sun rays, for giving us water via your complex water cycle, and for giving us protection from your elements.

But all we ask is that you please not focus on the fact that we prioritize making things like cement, iron, steel, electronics, plastics, clothes, and other goods, all that harm your being and release harmful gasses.

Thank you for giving us what we want, while we cause frequent and intense droughts to your life, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warmed oceans. We apologize for directly harming your animals and destroying their homes.
