Hart’s Amigos Unidos Latinos Club is one that clearly shines out from the crowd, providing an incredible community where Latin students can come together to learn and grow.
Viviana Ramos, a junior here at Hart, is the president of the Amigos Unidos Latinos Club and truly knows how to make a difference for others. When I asked what the club is all about, she mentioned that the Amigos Unidos Latinos Club is a club to celebrate the immense diversity of the amazing Hispanic culture, together they are able to create events and share their cultures with one another.
In her position as president, Ramos oversees the club and is the leader in place,
“…with the help of other board members, we come up with ideas for events for the community and activities we want to do in our meetings”.
Not to mention, she also helps with maintaining the club to be organized and that communication is clear with their advisors including Ms. Byrne, Ms. Murillo, and Ms. Trujillo.
Amigos Unidos Latinos Club is not just about sharing Hispanic cultures but also a place where the members can learn that no matter what they look like or what their culture is, they matter as much as anyone else. Having the club be a group in which people who are different and alike can celebrate and share the ways that they are all connected from food, traditions, language and more.
When I asked about her future plans for the club she expressed her excitement of hoping to host more events, wishing for more students to join next year so their club can grow and more students can be a part of their accepting and wonderful community.
