As 2022 begins, we honor those who have passed away

As 2021 finally came to an end, many memorable actors have passed away. It saddens many to have experienced their deaths.

Betty White was one of them. On January 17th 1922, one of America’s most loved actresses was born. Her career almost lasted eight decades, and through those eight decades she has made millions laugh with the help of her charming sense of humor. She may be famous for a lot of other things, but she is most known for her role on The Golden Girls. As a tribute, the US army came together as a whole to show gratitude and sympathy for her, as she volunteered in the American Women’s Voluntary Services during World War II.

February 20th of 1927, another cherished actor was born. Sidney Poitier, the Bahamian-American actor, film director and diplomat. He was the first black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. There were many tributes for him too, some including a speech from Joe Biden, former president Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and their spouses.

One of Hollywood’s directors, Peter Bogdarovich also passed away recently. Due to Parkinson’s disease, he died in his home January 6th. His death sparked many tributes from film makers, film critics and actors. Bogdarovich’s work has been cited as influences to many, inspiring people even after his passing.
