New Teachers at Hart High School

Gerrit Maxwell: This is not Maxwell’s first stint at Hart. Maxwell was a PE teacher at Hart in 2003, so after some time at Rancho Pico Junior High and other sites, he gets to return home to Hart High.

Robert Treahy: Treahy is also no stranger to Hart. Although Treahystarted his teaching career at Canyon High School, Treahycoached volleyball at Hart in the past, and he will most likely continue doing so with Mary and Loy for years to come. Treahy will be teaching social studies.

Jerry Mike: Mike is well known in our district for coaching Girls’ Basketball at Valencia High School, where during his last year of coaching he won a CIF Championship! Yet, Mike is also making his return to Hart to teach biology and finish his coaching career where he started it back in the 90’s under former Hart teacher/coach Dave Munroe.

Brooke Wanjon: Wanjon. is a Hart graduate who is taking on her first teaching role at Hart in social studies. She is a former cheerleader and coach and will also be taking on the duties of cheer advisor! Wanjon is very excited to return to start her career, albeit differently than most (online), but we welcome her with open arms.

Brooke Morales: Morales is coming over to us from Sierra Vista Junior High and someone Hart has been trying to get for a couple of years! Morales will be teaching English and also assisting with our girls’ basketball program. Welcome, Ms. Morales!

Jordan Stroh: Stroh, formerly Jordan Danny, is a Hart graduate who was an All-American swimmer for Hart in the early 2000s! We are lucky to get Stroh back from her previous stops at Canyon, Rio Norte and Sierra Vista in Science. Stroh may also help with our swim program, but we are happy for her technological expertise in science

Maria (Isabel) Giron: Isabel is yet another Hart grad who is returning to Hart and will be teaching Spanish. Isabel is coming to us from Golden Valley and we are happy to see what she will bring to Hart. Isabel has been exploring standard’s based grading and works hard for her students to gain an understanding of the language. Welcome back Ms. Giron!

Nicole Wertz: Also a first-year teacher, but one that we have had our eye on for a couple of years now, finally getting her start at Hart. Wertz will be teaching PE and has a tremendous enthusiasm for connecting with students and creating healthy lifestyles for them beyond high school!

Finally, as many of you already know, we have Sam Modugno, who is taking over as Counselor, has been at Hart for a number of years and knows our students and staff well. He will fit in perfectly as the start of our year may bring a lot of questions, but he will be part of a counseling staff who is here to answer questions and provide support when needed.

Michelle Hughes, who is transitioning into Culinary Arts and is excited to take on this new endeavor. Sheena Mohsen will also be taking over our Journalism program. Our new Instructional Coach is Cynthia Ross who has some great ideas on getting us started and supporting all teachers, especially during our distance learning! Lastly, our new Co- Athletic Director will be Craig Williams as he is well versed in a number of different sports and brings a wealth of knowledge to this position.
