Future Filmmakers at Hart

The film industry is notorious for its attraction of bright minds and passionate artists. In order to thrive in this competitive field, filmmakers must continuously adapt to changing standards in media. Here at Hart, we have bright minds that have been cultivated through Hart TV who are ready to thrive in filmmaking- Sophie Adelini, Kayla Van Duser, and Ryder Boyd.

Sophie Adelini is a junior in her second year of Hart TV. She plans on attending California State University Northridge for a degree in film, and go on to become a director.

“The film industry is very hard to get into, it’s very hard to be in a stable place,” says Adelini in an interview. “It’s really something that you can only do if you’re passionate about it.”

Adelini has been hard at work recently, after just finishing production for a new music video for her film class. Her dedication to filmmaking and her teamwork skills with her group are promising attributes to get her far in the film industry.

Kayla Van Duser is a junior in her first year of Hart TV. After high school, she plans to attend Chapman University, because of their excellent film program and extensive studio space and equipment.

“I really don’t know right now what I want to do in the film industry, I really just want to be a part of it. That stuff really interests me,” says Van Duser. “I would want to focus on directing more. I really like taking an idea that I have, and making it a reality.”

Van Duser is currently working on writing her first short film in Hart TV. She plans it to be around 20 minutes long with an inventive plot. Directing and writing this film will give her plenty of experience and opportunities to perfect her filmmaking skills.

Ryder Boyd is a sophomore in his second year of Hart TV. He’s planning on attending a university in California to pursue directing.

“Although a director as a position seems like a lot, it’s probably the position that I want to go into because I like coming up with ideas, but I don’t like writing them myself” says Boyd in an interview. “I want to make my ideas a reality, and one of the best ways to do that is through directing.”

Hart High School is full of bright minds who are preparing themselves for the tough field of the film industry. Based on the talent here at our school, the future of the film industry looks bright
