Former President Donald J. Trump has had one of the most controversial presidencies in the history of the United States, and now he finds himself in another lawsuit.
His recent situation in Colorado could potentially keep the former president off of the primary ballot in the state, with supporters of the lawsuit arguing that former president Trump is ineligible to run for position in the White House again.
The lawsuit revolves around a clause from the country’s constitution. According to the Associated Press, a “liberal group” filed the lawsuit against the former president September 6.
This lawsuit could be disastrous for Trump’s 2024 campaign which is already off to a difficult beginning coming off the heels of Trump’s controversial presidency and the unprecedented January 6 riots on Capitol Hill. With this incident adding fuel to the flames the consequences for the former president could be intense.
A five day hearing is set to take place regarding the lawsuit beginning October 30 with Colorado election officials hoping to find a verdict, so that they can cement the state’s primary ballot.
“Wallace said she wants to be able to issue a written ruling with enough time for the case to be appealed” said by Colorado Public Radio after an interview with Sarah B Wallace, a court judge in Colorado.
Much of the situation remains to be resolved, however depending on the outcome after the October hearing there may be serious consequences for Trump, and his 2024 election campaign.
