With school barely starting up and fall sports coming into season, the Hart Regiment is one that comes into play and is regarded as one of the best bands in California.
With the class of 2023 taking a majority of the regiment’s veteran players, they are now faced with a new batch of students who must build from the bottom up. While this may seem like a drawback, Mr. Bailey, the band director, is very excited and looking forward to seeing the students grow.
Mr. Bailey’s mission is to help the newcomers master the basics and catch up to the competition. The everyday improvements keep these students optimistic and hard-working to reach the reputation Hart is held to.
When asked, newcomers joined the band to get to know more people and enjoy what the regiment offers. While it’s a huge time commitment, they are willing to learn and struggle together to win the forthcoming competitions.
With the baritones looking like the strongest in the regiment, they hope to set an example for the rest of the band. Section leaders also play a massive role in the growth of the freshman. They see that students are motivated and are progressing at a fast rate.
“If we work hard I can see us winning all our competitions regardless of all our setbacks,” said a section leader.
Though it’s too early to tell how the regiment will perform in competitions, Mr. Bailey is more focused on how well they can perform as a group and will go from there.
