Helldivers 2 is a game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is a new game that came out early 2024 and takes place in a satirical dystopian future where mankind is ruled by a managed democracy. The player is part of the Helldivers – the top of humanity’s defense against the perpetual alien threat on Super Earth, an earth where everyone is united under managed democracy.

Helldivers 2 officially launched February 8, 2024 to be played on PlayStation 5 and PC. Although this game has just been released, it has taken the internet by storm and the media is talking about how players have been enjoying it because you can play with your friends and enjoy the experience together. Given that the game is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and launched on Playstation, it’s likely to stay a console exclusive, at least for a while.

The first game, Helldivers, offered a top-down squad-based shooter, whereas the second installment takes things third-person, offering a closer look at the game rather than the traditional top-down view. This means that you do stuff with your team and it’s a player versus environment game. A top down squad based shooter game is a type of game play centered around gun fighting and other weapon-based combat seen from a first-person perspective. This time around, people will be closer to the action, which helps to make the experience more immersive and also more intense. The most drastic change to how Helldivers 2 plays is the viewpoint. 

When going into combat, a wide range of weapons will be available, and users are able to customize their load-outs to suit their comfortable gaming style. Plus, with the official Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating of the game state that players should be prepared for intense violence and blood and gore, people can expect combat to level up within this game in comparison to eight years ago.
