As curtains close on Hart on Broadway, Hart Show Choir’s fall showcase, students are discussing the performances school-wide.
“[They are] incredibly talented. Like holy crap, that was so much stuff. How do you not get tired doing all that?” asked senior David Auerbach.
“I’m glad I showed up; it was definitely worth it,” said senior Daniel Granados. “The show was like two hours long and for you guys to have worked on every single one of those [acts] is just incredible.”
The tech crew also had a positive experience.
“I’m excited that we did it and got through it, but I’m sad that it’s over,” said member Eli Ward. “[I learned] that communication is a good thing.”
There was also one act evidently more beloved than the rest: “Sexy” from the musical Mean Girls, featuring Brooke Ewing.
“I liked “Sexy” a lot,” expressed junior Avery Adelini.
“…and “Sexy”. Brooke will forever be a sexy mouse,” Ward concurred.
“I really love dancing in heels–it makes me feel really confident when I’m on stage,” said senior Zoe Lutes.
As much fun as they had, seniors took their final fall bows October 21.
“To know that I’m never going to do [the fall show] again–it feels a little bit weird. But at the same time, I was ready for HOB to be over,” Lutes said, echoing her graduating class’s attitude. “I’ve also said my goodbyes to them and I’m ready to move on for bigger and greater things in my life. And also, it makes me really excited for comp season.”
Lutes nailed the one ubiquitous feeling choir kids are having: excitement for their competition season, beginning spring 2024.
“It’s about to get really busy and really exciting,” Adelini said. “Betelgeuse was really different from what Hartbreakers has done before and I’m just looking forward to what our comp set’s going to be based off of that.”
Competition sets were revealed on Halloween, a fun tradition involving costumes and lots of snacks. Hart students can catch a first glimpse of these intricate pieces at Pop Show this upcoming February.
Don’t forget, though, Hart Show Choir’s next show is Holiday House, December 2-3. Come check out these amazing performances!
