Anthony Dominguez, Class of 2025, is part of Mr Fossa’s art class at Hart High School. He has created multiple well-crafted drawings, and his work is often complimented by his classmates and even Hart’s art teacher, Mr. Fossa himself.
“He’s amazing. He draws really well and puts a lot of expression into his work, to the point where you feel like you’re seeing his personality right there on the paper. I think people should pay to watch him draw, he’s that good,” Mr. Fossa said.
Dominguez started drawing back in second grade when he would often doodle during class. His classmates would see his doodles and compliment his artwork giving him a sense of accomplishment, motivation, and support from his classmates. He also ranks his godfather among his most incredible supporters.
As he gets older, Dominguez plans to go into the art industry, either after high school or after attending an art-based university.
“I’d like to have a job in the industry, or maybe even start a business where I do drawings and commissions for people,” Dominguez said.
His most recent art piece is a drawing of a scene from an old skateboard-focused film through a fisheye lens. While he enjoys everything about drawing, his favorite part is seeing his progress with his projects as time goes by until he reaches the finished product.
Dominguez really shows his skills in his drawings. You can see the effort and time he puts into them, it’s obvious that he loves what he does, and it isn’t hard to see that drawing is something he truly enjoys. His major tip for students–and people in general–who strive to be artists is that if you don’t enjoy putting in the work, time, and effort into practicing and improving, there’s a high chance that you will fail as an artist.
“Drawing, and art in general, is something that you have to enjoy in order to get better and improve. If you don’t enjoy it and put effort into your art, you won’t get better and might end up losing skills instead of improving,” Dominguez said.
Dominguez is a great demonstration of an artist, he shows that he genuinely loves and enjoys what he does and has the motivation and effort to continually improve his skills. He will certainly become a great artist and be well-recognized by his peers and the artistic community in the near future.
