Hart’s unknown classes

There are many very well-known classes here at Hart, especially the required ones. However, there are many underappreciated hidden gems. Mr. Nazarian, a long-time teacher here at Hart, teaches one such class: workforce prep.

Many students have never heard of this class before. When asked about it, they only had the name to go off of. Mr. Nazarian has been teaching this class for years, helping students learn real-world skills and how to apply them.

Even with a low student count of 21, Mr. Nazarian puts his all into this class in order to give his students their best shot.

“In the class, we discuss all the different pathways students can take after high school,” Nazarian said.

“We discuss college, trades, military, etc. We also go over things like how to get a job and maintain a job. We learn how to apply, write a resume and even interview. Through the class and district, we place students at different jobs throughout SCV so they can build job experience.”

Talking about the future can be scary to many people. Whether it be finances, debt or workplace interactions, there are many unknowns in the workforce. In this class, students can learn how to manage, deal with and prevent potential problems.

This class also helps students manage their expectations and lower their inhibitions about applying for future jobs. The low difficulty of this class allows students to feel comfortable and confident with their decisions by the end of the year.

“We all start somewhere, and this class gives students the support they may need to make the process of finding a job easier and more enjoyable,” Nazarian said.

So, as the springtime eventually rolls around, will you take the next step towards a successful professional career and sign up for workforce prep?
