How the seniors at Hart are feeling

The class of 2024 now rules the school as they kick off the new school year. There are many different emotions on campus so far, so I talked to three different seniors to gauge what they are feeling so far and what is to come. With school starting August 8 and the senior sunrise on August 11, they got their first look into being a senior on campus.

Ron Paul Tamayo is happy with how the school year has begun.

“I feel alright; I’m happy and satisfied,” he said.

“The first rally was awesome. Finally, we are the ones booing everyone, and the freshmen are too scared to boo us. It’s almost funny,” said Hart High School senior Lexi Lopez.

“Same with the football game; we can finally yell at the underclassmen to stand in the back, and we can be in the front rows,” Lopez said.

There is an overwhelming feeling of motivation this year, being that this is the “last semester that counts” to some people. This is the time to perfect our grades before college applications. But with college applications comes stress.

“[I] want the school year to be over already,” said Alexandra Garcia. “I’m just excited to graduate and grow up.”

Yes, most seniors are excited to leave Hart and move on, but some are sad to let their memories at Hart go.

“I’m excited to graduate but I am also sad that my time at Hart is almost over,” said Ashley Folgar.

Now with 270 days until graduation and only a couple months until college applications are due, the seniors of Hart wish it could go faster so they can finally be finished with their high school careers.
