Senior Farewell: Ridley Downs

Dear fellow human life forms,

This was an experience. I guess I’ll go by year.

Freshman year started with fire. California was literally on fire. But that wasn’t the worst of it, not by a longshot. Then Saugus had a shooting all too close to home, leaving everyone rattled and deeply devastated. THEN the whole planet decided that wasn’t enough and we all needed to shut the world down. A worldwide pandemic was just what my freshman year needed as a grand finale.

I’ll be honest, I don’t remember anything about sophomore year. It was online. I mostly slept through the whole thing.

Junior year was full of work and stress. But junior year did introduce me to Journalism at Hart, and I am very glad about that. Going back to school with masks on was not the most comfortable, but I could make faces at people without them knowing. At least that was fun.

Senior year has been filled with celebrations and milestones. Being in Journalism was a lot of fun and I’m happy I got to be a part of it. Journalism made my senior year that much more special and I’m going to miss it. This last year has actually been enjoyable. I thought it would be a mad dash to the end, but I’ve enjoyed the journey this year.

It’s weird that everyone will be going their separate ways. I’ve known all of these people for so long. I’m excited for everyone and I wish them the best. High school was kinda fun, I guess, but I’m glad that it’s over.
