Green Comet passes by Earth

On March 2, 2022, a comet named C/2022 E3(ZTF) was discovered by astronomers at the Palomar Observatory in San Diego County. The significance of this comet not only comes from its green color but also because this comet has not been seen for 50,000 years.

The comet is surrounded by a green coma, the gas caused from sublimating ice, which gives it the colloquial name of the green comet. It was first reported to be easily seen on January 12, 2023 and will be closest between February 1 and 2 reaching around 26 million miles away from the Earth.
