Santa Clarita hotspots Six Flags Magic Mountain and Mountasia reveal hopes of reopening

Six Flags teases spring opening if L.A. Country COVID count allows

As coronavirus cases begin to decrease, there’s a chance Six Flags Magic Mountain will open in the spring. In order for the theme park to open, Los Angeles County must be in the yellow tier of the county’s COVID count. The yellow tier means that there are one or less new daily cases per 100,000 people. As of right now, L.A. County is in the red tier, meaning there are four to seven daily cases per 100,000 people. To enter the yellow tier, the country must enter the orange tier. For this to happen, cases per day must drop from 602 to 100.

Once the park decides to open, they can only open with a capacity of under 15,000 people and each individual person has to make reservations before their visit. Additionally, people aren’t allowed to scream while on the rides, which might make the rides either less fun or more interesting, depending on how you look at it. Despite the restrictions, the owners of Magic Mountain have high hopes of opening up soon, though without a set date.

Mountasia continues on under its buyer Mb2 Raceway

After COVID-19 shut down the family fun park, Mb2 Raceway decided to buy Mountasia. According to Santa Clarita News stated, Michael Fleming, the former general managing partner for Mountasia, was looking for a buyer back in September 2020 to try and keep the attraction’s door open.  Although the park is still closed, the Mb2 has already started upgrading attractions and expanding what the park has to offer.

Once completed, the center is set to feature Topgolf Swing Suites, duck-pin bowling, a sports bar and some newly renovated current attractions such as the miniature golf course, arcade and go karts

¨It has been more than 25 years since Fleming and his brother Dave have opened Mountasia, and it’s a bittersweet moment for them,” said Santa Clarita News.

With hard work and the motivation to keep Mountasia’s family fun legacy alive, the new owners are looking forward to opening it soon.
