Girls Volleyball 3-0 Win Against Granada Hills

Hart Girls Volleyball defeats City Section Open defending champs Granada Hills in a 3-0 win August 31.

The first set began with senior Maddi Maxwell scoring a massive kill on the left side with a set from senior Morgan Dumlao, clearly demonstrating the precedent for the big plays that would come. The first set ended with a 25-13 Hart victory.

As the second set began, the student section, along with the JV and Freshman teams, were cheering enthusiastically for the girls to win in the next set as well and continue their dominating playing.

Set two was full of flying dives and narrow saves from seniors Alexis Holloway and Illiana Garcia. The libero and defensive specialist duo were throwing themselves at every ball, and ensuring that no play ended without the maximum effort being given. Hart once again clinched the victory with a score of 25-14.

The third set was the most exciting of them all, with huge kills and saves from every player on the court. Some of the most notable plays took place within the first 15 points. Senior setter Morgan Dumlao finished off a long rally with an unexpected setter dump on Granada. Sophomore Olive Moore and Junior Martina Neveleff scored subsequent kills in the middle blocker positions. Hart earned their final point and the game victory with a tipped ball from Allie Wieckowski on the right side, winning the set 25-15.

“We’re definitely going to do really well and win a lot of games this season,” says junior middle blocker Ashley Dronen. “Our team has grown a lot in the few games that we’ve had.” The prospects for the 2023-24 season are looking bright for Hart Girls Volleyball.
