MESQUITE, NV — One person was killed and three others were hospitalized after a fiery four-vehicle crash involving an RV on Interstate 15 near Mesquite. The crash happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes, and the cause has not yet been released.

Three victims were taken to area hospitals after the Sunday afternoon collision

Mesquite Fire Rescue said the crash involved four vehicles, including an RV that was seen on its side and burning in a photo from the scene. One person died after the collision, while three others were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The person who was killed has not been identified.

NHP described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy and praised people who stopped to help before emergency crews arrived.

Bystanders helped pull victims away from the burning RV

According to NHP, several citizens ran toward the wreck to help injured motorists, including pulling one victim from the roadway and another from the RV moments before it became fully engulfed in flames.

Other bystanders provided water, blankets, and additional aid while first responders arrived from Mesquite Fire Rescue, Mesquite Police Department, Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Department, and Life Flight.

Fire officials urged drivers to stay alert and slow down

Mesquite Fire Rescue said the crash is a reminder for motorists to pay attention, reduce speed, and avoid distractions behind the wheel.

The Sunday wreck shut down part of the northbound interstate scene as crews worked the crash and transported the injured.
