Two patients flown to trauma centers after the hard closure request

Because of the severity of the injuries, two patients were airlifted from the crash scene to trauma centers.

At about 1:13 p.m., CHP requested a hard closure of the freeway and asked the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Division to respond.

Traffic delays and dogs in the vehicle added to the response

The crash caused significant delays on Interstate 15 as authorities shut down lanes and diverted traffic so crews could work safely.

Responders also asked for animal control help with two French bulldogs inside the Tahoe. Radio traffic indicated the dogs were not injured and were arranged for safe retrieval from the scene. CHP said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
