Josue Lopez checked his class schedule on the morning of August 7th, when he noticed the shift in the new bell schedule for the upcoming school year.
“I was not looking forward to how this new bell schedule would play out and how the teachers would fit their teaching schedule into a tighter time frame,” Josue said.
When school officially started on August 8th, Josue noted his classes were considerably shorter in time. As a result, he found himself rushing through classwork in order to have sufficient time to ask his teacher about any questions he had on the homework assigned for the night, before the end of class period.
“We don’t have enough time to actually start homework in class. I know it’s not a necessity to do homework in class, but it’s more beneficial to get a headstart on the homework, which sets me up for the next class to ask the questions I need in order to get help” Josue said.
Josue didn’t realize these subtle changes in the schedule would have such a drastic impact.
“It’s kinda hard to deal with my classes because all of them are shorter, which rushes the entire class to finish the lesson while also having to learn something from it,” Josue said.
Although, there is a positive to the new bell schedule that Josue quite enjoys. The new schedule has allowed the entire campus to be on one brunch schedule which has allowed Josue to socialize more with his friends who were in a different brunch last year.
“Having my friends together all at once is more enjoyable because we are able to make more memories instead of having to recap what we did at school during our cross-country practices,” Josue said.
