Halle Michaelson and Mark Lopez crowned as 2022 homecoming queen and king

Friday, September 9, Hart played its annual homecoming game against Mira Costa and lost with a final score of 36-10. However, the game wasn’t the only event of the night. Prior to the game, the bleachers were filled with community members dressed in red, in honor of Larry “the Legend” Fiscus. The program lasted roughly 30 minutes and a formal memoriam took place the day after, September 10, in Hart’s gym.

The homecoming court showcase began at halftime and all nominees were announced while driven around the track in classic cars. Each nominee was paired with a running partner and the pairs contained Mark Lopez and Halle Michaelson, Colin Bailey and Angelina Saraswathi, Patrick Done and Zoe Abanes, Charlotte Curtis and Andrew Stoker, Max Garcia and Holly Hyer and Natalie Spivey and Sean Elsee. Each pair was dropped off at the 50 yard line, closest to the away side, and was introduced to the filled bleachers, with the announcer taking note of who they walked with, their involvements at Hart and other extracurriculars, their favorite high school memories and who walked them down. After each nominee lined up on the stage, before the student section, Hart principal Mr. d’Autremont announced and crowned Halle Michaelson and Mark Lopez as the 2022 homecoming king and queen.

“I was really surprised I won but super thankful to everyone who supported me, it was like a crazy movie! I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to win homecoming king and queen with!” said Michaelson.

The game was preceded by Hart’s annual homecoming carnival which featured rally-type performances and activities to fundraise and raise spirits for the homecoming football game.
