Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe is the perfect mix of nostalgia and new content

When I heard Phineas and Ferb was producing another movie, I screamed with excitement. The Creators of the show, Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh are creative geniuses. Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe put a spotlight on Phineas and Ferb’s cranky older sister Candace. After years of trying and failing to bust her brothers, she finally got the day off she needed– in space! She was believed to be “The Chosen One” by the inhabitants of the bizarre planet, Feebla-Oot. However, the gang (Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Baljeet and Buford) set off on a journey across the galaxy to save Candace.

I have been anticipating this movie for months and it did not disappoint. The movie featured characters I haven’t seen in years and brought back many fond memories. In true Phineas and Ferb fashion, there are also several new songs guaranteed to get stuck in your head. However, now that I am older, I have to admit that this movie is deeper than some silly jokes and catchy songs. It presented a message of focusing and taking care of yourself above anything else. Candace spent her whole summer trying to bust her brothers, and never thought about relaxing. In this movie, she got the advice and day off she truly deserved after many seasons of attempting to bust her brothers.

Phineas and Ferb has always been a huge part of my childhood. I was two when the first episode came out, yet I remember watching it clearly. Two genius brothers build wacky inventions, with their sister, constantly trying to “bust” them, they have a secret agent platypus for a pet, all while an eccentric, yet lovable, scientist tries (and fails) to take over the tri-state area? How can this not be my favorite show? The show features countless quirky characters and dozens of catchy songs. The plot of this show is so silly and clever, and always leaves me wanting more. In fact, the show inspired me to build my ever growing imagination, and got me interested in engineering.

This movie is one of the best from 2020. It easily lifted my spirits and brought me back to my childhood, long before the stress of high school. The humor is clean and clever, so it is suitable for everyone and easy to keep up with. Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe is a spectacular movie and I’d recommend it to anyone.

I would rate this movie a 5/5.
