The Hart High Varsity baseball team kicked off the beginning of their league season against West Ranch February 27. While they won league last year, this game did not kick start the season on the right foot, as they were shut out 3-0. However, in this game, three of their starters, Cooper Austin, Rocco Saldivar and Isaac Kim, were out from different injuries.
Hart is 9-9 overall, 4-4 in Foothill League. Their four league wins were against Golden Valley, Canyon twice, and Saugus with the Saugus victory coming on the back of a Kendall Thomas grand slam.
They recently shut out Canyon by a score of 8-0. During the team’s second game against the Cowboys, the team went into the ninth inning starting with a tied score of 2-2. With Rocco Saldivar on base, Kendall Thomas got the game winning RBI, bringing the game to a victory for Hart with a score of 3-2. After playing them March 27, Hart plays Valencia again today at 3:30 at home.
