February 28, the Jonas Brothers teased in a Late Late Show with James Corden promo video that they would release a new single.
At 12 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, the group released the single “Sucker” on YouTube. The music video included the brothers and their significant others: Kevin his wife, reality tv star Danielle Jonas, Nick and his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra and Joe and his fiancée, actress Sophie Turner. Although all three brothers were in the video, Joe and Nick did vocals while Kevin played the guitar in the background.
The costumes for the video were extravagant. Danielle Jonas, Chopra and Turner had several costume changes, all of which consisted of large, colorful dresses and the occasional large hat. Most of the costumes consisted of exotic patterns and jewels. The brother’s costumes included colorful patterned suits.
The song itself is about the brothers’ significant others and how they are “suckers” for them. They sing about how they’d do anything for them because they’re “suckers” for their love. The song also discusses that they would do anything to follow them because they can’t seem to get enough of them.
The brothers originally got together in 2005, but the band broke up in 2013. With the release of their new song, they’ve received lots of attention and praise for the reunion of the band. Currently the “Sucker” music video on YouTube has over 70 million view in just a few weeks, and their former albums and songs are seeing an increase of streaming.
The song really brings me back to the late 2000’s. It’s a great song that I highly recommend listening to on loop. “Sucker” can be found on most music streaming platforms including iTunes and Spotify.
