Boys tennis began their season recently and are off to a great start. The varsity team currently has one win and one loss when it comes to league games and are hopeful for the rest of their season.

Both varsity and junior varsity have practice Monday through Thursday except for match days which generally occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At their practices, the team participates in drills to work on their skills and simulate a real match.

The team recently played Valencia and unfortunately lost but put up quite a fight throughout the match. They managed to win several sets despite the loss of the match as a whole. They have also played Canyon recently and won.

The team has a strong lineup of players this year. Currently the number one singles player is Jax Liescheidt and the number one doubles team is Daniel Laforteza and Jeremy Killian.

“Tennis is a way for me to express my emotions out on the court,” said Laforteza.

The boys are looking forward to playing Saugus and West Ranch since these teams appear to be strong competition. As a team, they are hoping to improve all aspects of their game and have a mindset that they are never good enough so that they work harder.

“Tennis has not only made me a better person as an individual, but also has taught me life lessons about cooperation and group working skills,” said Jax Liescheidt, a freshman player on the team.
