Comprised of nine students and led by English Teacher Ms. Nishioka, Speech and Debate meets in room F-31, every Monday. Speech and Debate is led by Junior Club President, Joe Brennan, Sophomore Vice-President, Grace Gooneratne, Sophomore Secretary, Julia Estrada, and Senior Treasurer, Daniel Branda.

“Speech and Debate is helpful for students who want to enter the law field later on and because it involves arguing and public speaking, the club offers practice for that,” said Brennan.

Speech and Debate attended a competition December 16 at Granada Hills Charter High School. Joe Brennan received a superior certificate in spontaneous arguments. January 13, Club President Brennan received a place of 10th in the Congressional Debate. The Congressional Debate took place at the I have a Dream Invitational that took place at the Monroe High School. January 21, Junior Dominic Cortez and Brennan received superior certificates in Parliamentary Debate at Taft High School.
