Hart’s boys’ varsity volleyball team has started the season off staggering all expectations, struggling with a 1-19 record during the first few weeks of the season. The team looks motivated and willing to push through the remainder of the season. Varsity opposite, Gavin Locke, claims that despite the many blows to their record, the team still practices rigorously.
“My team is looking motivated, and we are still taking practice very seriously to improve our bigger weaknesses to prevent us from losing more. The only issue we’re having is our consistency, we perform well in the first set but then start to struggle later through the game,” Said Locke.
Alternatively, JV boys are cruising through the season with a 1-16 record, with their first win being against Thousand Oaks, March 23. Griffin Downs, a long time member of the JV team claims that a major issue with the team has to do with confidence and energy.
“Overall I think we’re a good team, but usually we’ll make a couple mistakes in a row and then someone basically shuts down or gets in their head, which affects the energy of the whole team,” said Downs.
As the season progresses, both teams have seen improvement. They both look to apply this to their game promptly.
